[ARCHIVED] Police Department Welcomes Mock Assessors

The West Melbourne Police Department is in the process of becoming accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (CFA), which is the accrediting body for law enforcement agencies in the State of Florida. Accreditation requires consistency, transparency and accountability, which is confirmed through an on-site assessment. To ensure compliance with accreditation standards, assessors review written materials, interview agency members and observe issued equipment and facilities.

On February 9-11, 2016, three assessors will conduct a mock assessment to confirm compliance with nearly 260 CFA standards. Our Department welcomes team leader Special Agent Tim Elder of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Accreditation Manager Tammy King of the Rockledge Police Department, and Accreditation Manager Sam Dobson of the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department. The onsite assessment will take place April 19-21, 2016.

To become accredited affirms the Department’s continued commitment to professional excellence and increases the Department’s ability to fulfill its mission of serving and safeguarding the public and businesses operating in the City of West Melbourne. For further information or for a copy of the CFA standards please contact our Accreditation Manager, Sergeant Jennifer Bruno or visit the CFA website at http://www.flaccreditation.org/index.htm.
