Responsibilities

The City of West Melbourne's Business Advisory Board was established in 2009 to provide advice to the City Council on how the City can implement measures that will promote, improve and meet the needs of commercial establishments. This includes the following:

  • Determine commercial needs of citizens and businesses
  • Survey existing businesses
  • Inventory vacant commercial land and buildings
  • Recommend methods to enhance and promote business activity

Composition

The Business Advisory Board consists of up to 9 members appointed by Council and serve one year terms. Individuals are eligible for appointment if they hold a current Business Tax Receipt with the City, or are employed by a business that operates within the City or own or manage a business in a nearby unincorporated area.. It is the intent to encourage membership from various business categories (e.g., restaurants, retail, warehouses, etc.).

Board vacancies will be posted in the News Flash section of the City's website, on this web page, The Sun Newsletter, and within City Hall. If you are interested in serving on the Business Advisory Board and you meet the foregoing criteria, please complete the Application for Board Vacancy (PDF) form, attach your resume and submit the form and your resume by email to Cynthia Hanscom, City Clerk, or mail to:
