Message From Chief Wiley
Providing exceptional police services and taking a leadership role in building community partnerships are a top priority for the West Melbourne Police Department. We subscribe to core values together with honesty and integrity, personal accountability, ownership, consistency and fairness, creativity and innovation, positive attitude, teamwork and a strong work ethic. We are a growing, progressive agency in an energetic community and are fortunate to have a very supportive elective leadership.

The West Melbourne Police Department traces its roots back to 1959 shortly after the City was created. Today our department has 40 sworn officers and 8 support staff. Together we are responsible for the protection and safety of West Melbourne's 20,250 residents as well as the many visitors that come and go through our city every day.

It is important for us to stay connected within the community we serve. It is also important that you are informed about what we do, how we accomplish our work and how you can assist us in being successful with our public safety endeavors. Our website is one tool we use to achieve this goal. Thank you for visiting our Police Department's website and we welcome your suggestions, comments and views on how we can better meet your needs.

The West Melbourne Police Department applied for Accreditation status in August 2014 through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA). To be accredited we had to come into compliance with over 260 Commission approved standards, mostly relating to life, health and safety.

On June 22, 2016 our Department appeared before the full Commission (comprised of Judges, Police Chiefs, Sheriff’s and administrative personnel) where the status of an accredited agency was conferred. Click here to see the final report of our full compliance assessment to the Commission.
