Political Party Affiliation

Florida is a closed primary state.  If you want to vote in a partisan Primary Election, then you must be a registered voter with the political party for which the primary election is held.  All registered voters may vote on issues, amendments, and for non-partisan candidates such as: judges, school board, and city council members.  Party changes may be requested through the Election Offices.

How to Change Your Registration

If your permanent address, mailing address, political party affiliation, or name changes, you must complete a Florida Voter Registration Application or fill out the back of your current Voter Information Card.  Sign the back and return it by mail or in person to any of the Election Offices.  A new Voter Information Card will be mailed to you.

Referendum

A referendum may be called at any time on any issue that requires a vote of the people.  All voters may vote regardless of party affiliation.

Voting Absentee Ballot

Absentee ballot requests may be in person, by mail, e-mail, or by phone to the Supervisor of Elections.  All requests must be received by the Elections Office no later than 5:00 pm the sixth day before the election, and absentee ballots must be received at the Supervisor of Elections offices by 5:00 pm (Viera Office 7:00 pm) on the day of the election to be eligible to be counted.

Early Voting

Prior to Election Day, early voting is available at the Supervisor of Elections offices.  It begins 15 days before Election Day and ends on the Saturday before the election.
